The Pine Ridge area has the state's best Merriam's turkey population and plenty of public access. The whitetail deer herd stands at over 300,000 in Nebraska. Over the past 10 years, the deer season has been open for an average of 117 days in the fall and winter hunting months which equals about six months of whitetail deer hunting opportunities.   ELK SEASON, DECEMBER 2010 - NICE JOB ON YOUR SUCCESS, MIKE!!  An elk calf can weigh about 35 pounds at birth. An elk may weigh five times as much as when it was born during its first winter. Cow elk can weigh more than 500 pounds and an average bull elk can weigh up to 700 pounds.As you walk approximately 300 ft to the North of Creekside B&B, you will be on the Ponderosa Wildlife Management Area for public recreational use. The Pine Ridge Wildlife Management Headquarters for Ponderosa Wildlife Management Area is approximately 1 3/4 miles from Creekside B&B.
